Mood Board

Here is my mood board, this is a group of images which give you an overall idea of the type of person that my magazine is aimed at. I have included images of music groups because this shoes the sort of music that they are interested in. Also by including images like butterflys i've tried to show that this reader may also like girly things. I have included brand names like 'Hollister' to get an idea of the sort of clothing the person likes and wears. Overall i have tried to summarise the places the reader would go to along with showing many other interests.

Front Cover

Here is one of my first tries of creating a magazne cover using photoshop.

Positives- I think that the image overall is good if it had been used slightly better. I also like the colour scheme that i've chosen. The title stands out and will attract its target auidence.

Negatives As i mentioned the image i think is good but needs to be cropped down as there is more focus on the background than on the actual person. Also i think that there needs to be more on this cover, for example more images and text inlcuding information about the magazine.
X factor
Details:
-Music, style and gossip magazine
- Published with FreemantleMedia and Syco Entertainment.
This has only recently been launched in 2010, around the same time as which the show is on.
Masthead: X magazine along with the strap-line which is... music- stars-style. This sums up overall what is in this magazine.
The price of this magazine is £1.95
The X Factor Magazine: Issue 3, front coverHouse style: main focus is on the the “X” and also the main cover image. On the first issue of X magazine all of the judges were featured on the front cover. A mix of colours were used for example blue along with pinks and purples, this would suggest that the magazine is aimed at female readers. The images used are obviously posed for.
The font on the magazine is quite girly. Words that will grab the reader’s attention are often shown in bold.
-The language is informal
There are no free gifts given away with the magazine yet, this may be something that is introduced in the future.
The magazine frequency is weekly. It competes with many other magazines but this does have an advantage of including so much in one. It’s one of the only music magazines to offer fashion and style advice.
-          May also make its money through advertising.
-          Advertises products such as make up, tv shows, hair products and perfumes.

The house still of this cover is red, white, black and grey which are used in a more feminine way. The cover appears quite simple but bold. The main colour and focus is the model/ celebrity on the cover.
The pictures are modelled and posed for.

The language is quite chatty/ in formal for example – “Wear it now” and “you’ll never look better”

Introduction

Hey, My name is Amy.
My magazine is going to be called Ambition. The aim of my magazine is to attract a teenage audience and create something that isnt already in the market. It will include articles anf interviews from bands, along with photos from concerts which will also be included in this magazine.
The reader will be aimed at older teenage girls around 15-19. The type of magazine that i would like to create is something different but at the same time simiular to magazines already out there. At the moment i feel that there is no inbetween from young teenage magazines to an older young adults magazine being aimed at women in there 20's. This is where Ambition comes in. It will be similar to the X magazine which was recently launched in September. The frequency of my magazine will be monthly.
I think that my magazine is a good idea as it fills that gap in the market where there isn't an inbetween for 15 to 19 years old.
